International Rural Women’s Day: 15 th October

International Rural Women’s Day was celebrated at the ALCs and VTCs of BETI with the community. The day started with Prabhat Pheri by adolescent girls. Pamphlets on the significance of women’s education, their health and empowerment were distributed along with other cultural activities. Rural women and adolescent girls appeared to enjoy the day as was evident by the exclamation of a woman of gram panchayat Gangapur, “ Chalo hamaar bhi koi din hai, jo aap logon dwara manaya ja raha hai, warna hame puchchta hi kaun hai. Bhagwan aapko safal banaye!” (“So we also have our day, which is being celebrated by you, otherwise who cares for us. May God bless you!”)

World AIDS Day: 1 st December

To mark the day, BETI along with SEWA Lucknow organized an Awareness campaign on World AIDS at GPO park Hazratganj, Lucknow.

Messages were transmitted through

  • Banners
  • Placards
  • Street plays
  • Slogans and songs
  • Signature campaigns
  • Lighting of candles

BETI also sensitized following stakeholders and people in the day:

  • 50 rickshaw pullers in Sitapur.
  • 100 boatmen in Varanasi
  • 500 youth, transporters, rickshaw pullers, sex workers, common people in Lucknow.
  • 150 youth and medical fraternity in Bahraich.
  • 500 youth, members of CBOs, school teachers and government employees in Balrampur.

Children’s Day: 14 th November

Children’s Day was celebrated at the ALCs and VTCs of BETI with enthusiasm. Games as Kabaddi, Kho-kho and cricket were organized along with the cultural activities. Children were encouraged to participate in competitions by arranging Book Craft Competition at the Centers.
